Seasonal Enhancement of Nitrogen Removal on Domestic Wastewater Treatment Performance by Partially Saturated and Saturated Hybrid Constructed Wetland

The aim of this study is to evaluate seasonal enhancement nitrogen removal on domestic wastewater treatment performance by partially saturated and HBCWs. To achieve this, two HBCWs consisting a vertical subsurface flow constructed wetland, followed horizontal wetland (VSSF-HSSF) were evaluated. Two saturation levels used: (a) HB1:VSSF1 (0.6 m)-HSSF1 (0.15 m), (b) HB2: VSSF2 (0.8 m)-HSSF2 (0.25 m). Each unit was planted with Schoenoplectus californicus operated for 297 days. efficiencies in HB1 HB2 above 70%, 86%, 77% 55% chemical oxygen demand (COD), total suspended solids (TSS), as ammonium (NH4+-N), (TN), respectively. For VSSF, higher level (from 0.6 0.8 m) meant decrease 17% the TN efficiencies, HSSF, an increase from 0.15 0.25 m 11 10% NH4+-N Thus, reduces transformation and/or components wastewaters be treated, particularly nitrogen. Through research, possibility optimizing hybrids can examined.
